About the Court

Established in 1983, County Criminal Court at Law No. 11 is one of sixteen trial courts located in Harris County with primary jurisdiction over Class A and B misdemeanor criminal offenses.  Under the Texas Penal Code, the maximum punishment for a Class A misdemeanor offense is one year in the county jail and/or a fine of $4,000. The maximum punishment for a Class B misdemeanor offense is 180 days in jail and/or a fine of $2,000.

In addition to misdemeanor criminal offenses, the Harris County Criminal Courts at Law have jurisdiction over occupational driver's licenses, appeals of the suspension of a driver's license, and appeals of criminal cases from justice courts and municipal courts in the county.   

Each Harris County County Criminal Court at Law has the following staff members:

  • Court Coordinator
  • Court Reporter
  • Court Clerks (employed by the Harris County District Clerk)
  • Bailiffs (employed by the Harris County Sheriff's Office)
  • Court Liaison Officer (employed by the probation department)
